Adding: when you realize that your gamer friends significantly outnumber your non-gamer friends and that, frankly, you'd rather hang out with gamers anyway.

You learn how something work so you can use it in a role playing game.

You watch the news for interesting things to put into your scenarios..

You create NPC's using your non gamer friends (if you have any) as a templet...
